At its core, NWF has roots as an educational organization. Narrated by Tom Hanks, The Americas<\/em><\/a> takes viewers on an epic journey across North and South America in a 10-part television event. As the official conservation partner for The Americas<\/em>, NWF created meaningful opportunities for viewers to learn, join, and act to protect our shared planet in addition to experiencing the one-of-a-kind television event.<\/p>\n\n

Together NWF, NBC, and its partners asked viewers to Come Together For Nature. <\/strong>Our PSA<\/a> aired on NBC stations and is featured on Peacock<\/a> to encourage viewers of the series to take conservation actions to protect and celebrate wildlife and wild places. NWF Watch Kits <\/a>feature remarkable wildlife from each episode and are designed to inspire viewers to explore nature where you live, work, play, and provide parents and educators with even more resources to encourage hands-on learning, engagement, and outdoor time.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n

LG\u2019s Vulnerable and Endangered Species Campaign Spotlights Wildlife Conservation<\/span><\/h2>\n\n

If you find yourself in Times Square, look up. In one of the busiest metropolitan corners of New York City, LG Electronics in partnership with NWF raises awareness for vulnerable and endangered species by making larger-than-life digital billboards that pop. These 3D stunning visuals<\/a> with a powerful purpose<\/a> have run continuously for over two years featuring a wide range of species including the monarch butterfly, cactus ferruginous pygmy owl, the red wolf, West Indian manatee, and more.<\/p>\n\n

Launched in 2024, the Series aims to educate K-12 students on biodiversity and wildlife conservation and raise public awareness for the success of the Endangered Species Act. NWF provides educational<\/a> resources for each featured species. The partnership with LG also brings new filmmakers and storytellers into the movement: watch<\/a> David Mizejewski award a $25,000 prize to the winners of the LG Wonderbox contest for students on Access Hollywood<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

Beyond the screen, LG\u2019s Sustainability<\/a> efforts extend into communities and the workplace. As part of NWF\u2019s corporate habitat programs, LG employees built over 100 nesting boxes and planted native plant species in the communities around their U.S. headquarters in New Jersey.<\/p>\n\n

Connecting Families Outdoors with L.L.Bean and Green Hour\u00ae<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n

Research has shown that outdoor time helps children grow lean and strong, enhances imaginations and attention spans, decreases aggression, and boosts classroom performance. People of all ages who spend time in nature experience a decrease in stress and improved physical wellbeing. In addition, children who spend time in nature regularly are shown to become better stewards of the environment.<\/p>\n\n

At the height of a pandemic in 2020, L.L.Bean and NWF teamed up to spread the joy of the outdoors by encouraging families to participate in a \u201cGreen Hour<\/a>.\u201d The National Wildlife Federation\u2019s Green Hour\u00ae provides fun tips and activities to get kids and families outside in nature every day. We encourage kids, parents, grandparents, educators, and caregivers at home, schools, childcare centers, park agencies, camps, and more to adopt a goal of an hour per day of time to play and learn outdoors in nature.<\/p>\n\n

Building Homes for People and Wildlife with Taylor Morrison<\/span><\/h2>\n\n

Taylor Morrison Home<\/em> Corporation\u2019s focus on building sustainable communities<\/strong><\/a> and conserving nature as a priority led to an exclusive partnership with NWF starting in 2019. Taylor Morrison works to apply NWF\u2019s standards to safeguard Natural Open Spaces\u2122, promote biodiversity through native plants, as well as educate and inspire homeowners to participate in conservation efforts. NWF\u2019s experts and landscape designers create nature-based solutions including Nature Play Spaces\u2122 for children and Certified Wildlife Habitats\u00ae to increase access to green space and improve air and water quality for the community.<\/p><\/div>

NWF\u2019s Resident Naturalist-Influencer, David Mizejewski<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n

As author, TV personality and our resident naturalist-influencer, David started at NWF in 2000 as the national program manager of our signature Garden for Wildlife\u2122 program. David appears in national media, in videos, social media and other resources. He hosted and produced the TV series, Backyard Habitat<\/em> with Animal Planet and wrote the how-to book Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Backyard Wildlife<\/em>. He has been involved with projects such as the fascinating 12-lecture online course, In Field Guide to North American Wildlife<\/em> focusing on 12 wild animals found throughout North America.<\/p>\n\n

David discovered that when it came to appearing on camera, he was a natural at sharing his knowledge to inspire people to care about nature and get involved with NWF conservation. Each opportunity led to another, and over the decades, David has conducted hundreds of media appearances and speaking engagements as NWF\u2019s Ambassador and resident media personality<\/strong><\/a>. In addition, as NWF\u2019s head Naturalist, David develops and curates scientifically accurate and engaging content for the masses. Reflecting on his 25th<\/sup> NWF anniversary and his 50th birthday in 2025, David said, \u201cI\u2019m a lifelong nature geek who grew up reading Ranger Rick magazine. I\u2019ve had the opportunity to spend literally half my life as a naturalist at NWF and paying that forward and inspiring others to action is something I\u2019m grateful for every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

At the end of every episode of the Animal Planet garden makeover series Backyard Habitat<\/em>, David recognized the garden as an NWF Certified Wildlife Habitat\u00ae. The series ran for 47 episodes between 2005-2010. Here, he presents the CWH certificate to the Vanderbilt Children\u2019s Hospital\u2019s pollinator healing garden in Tennessee with the help of country music legend Wynona Judd.<\/figcaption><\/div><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
