Pre-K Students Read with Ranger Rick
Ranger Rick is a family of magazines that shares NWF’s mission with over 1 million children each year, to inspire future conservationists. The year 2024 marked Ranger Rick’s 10th year participating in Pre-kindergarten Reading Encouragement Project (PREP) in Wilmington, DE. We ship discounted Ranger Rick Jr. magazines and a Parents’ Reading Guide in both English and Spanish to participating preschools, where volunteers read the magazines aloud to students, and then in turn, students take the magazines home. Since its inception, the program has touched the lives of over 3,000 children attending preschools in underserved communities as well as their parents.

Members Campaign for Wildlife Priorities
Wildlife cannot vote or sign petitions – it is up to us to advocate on their behalf. NWF’s engaged members and activists sent over 600,000 separate advocacy messages in 2024, encouraging elected leaders to pass new laws and improve federal regulations to protect wildlife and the air, lands, and waters we share.
On a Lobby Day in June, NWF staff and affiliate representatives visited Capitol Hill bearing signatures from over 50,000 advocates for wildlife urging Congress and the Senate to pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.

Communities Continue Planting Trees, Signing Pledges, and Teaching Students
Trees for Wildlife™, which plants native trees and supports large-scale tree giveaways events, engaged thousands of individuals across five states (MT, NY, OH, TN, FL) and collectively supported nearly 60,000 native seedlings.
The Monarch Heroes Program provides teachers in Texas with knowledge of pollinator-focused community science, such as the epic migration of the monarch butterfly, and resources, such as Schoolyard Habitats Planning Guide and bilingual Spanish Monarch Mission Curriculum.
The Mayors’ Monarch Pledge program was introduced in 2015 to expand monarch habitat along the iconic species migratory path. In 2024, the program welcomed 300 signatories, including 68 first-time pledges, contributing to the legacy of over 11,000 acres of monarch habitat created, and 12 million people engaged.
