NWF and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom awarded grants to seven universities to protect endangered and vulnerable species. Students at California State University, Bakersfield, will create a survey using non-invasive DNA based technology. The survey will support conservation strategies for the kit fox, a small canine species that has lost more than 90 percent of its original habitat in the San Joaquin Valley due to urban sprawl and extensive industrial agriculture.
