Invasive and Non-native Plant Sales Banned in Missouri

In 2025, the Conservation Federation of Missouri championed legislation banning the sale of certain invasive plants in nurseries statewide. Dealers must affirm they will not trade species such as Japanese honeysuckle, sericea lespedeza, or callery pear. This step helps reduce ecological damage and protect Missouri’s native ecosystems, agriculture, and property values.
