North Hempstead Plants 300 Trees

The Town of North Hempstead, NY hosted a native tree seedling giveaway for residents at Clark Botanic Garden for two days in early April. The Town’s Environmental Specialist and a certified arborist with the Nassau County Soil and Water Conservation District handed out the trees to residents and provided information on the tree species and how to plant and maintain them. An information sheet was created that described the tree species and how to plant bare root trees. The certified arborist also did a planting demonstration on the proper way to plant bare root trees for attendees. Species planted: serviceberry, American plum, eastern redbud, northern catalpa.
